It's been nearly two weeks since I have posted anything on this blog and for that I am ashamed! Interim has been amazing, I've been reading Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice and Emma) and I'm enjoying relaxing and working! Anyways, each Saturday, I've personally made it an unspoken rule that I do some kind of craft/refashion project. I love doing crafts and sewing any other day but Saturdays are the days that I have the most time! This post will mostly be about me catching you up on what I've been doing with some of my time. I hope you're prepared!
I love scarves. Because I love scarves, I love making them and giving them away! My awesome roomie, Brittany gave me a Snuggie for Christmas so I figured I'd give her an animal print infinity scarf! These pics will show how I made the scarf, and the final pics will show what Brittany's scarf turned out. I got this tutorial from
Sweet Verbena-Infinity Scarf and wanted to use my own kind of fabric.
I took two rectangles of fabric measuring 18"x45".
|
Pin and sew the 45" edges |
|
I then sewed the 18" edges together (insides together) until I ran out of room and had to sew the exterior of the edges. (That sounded kind of confusing. Sorry for that)
Here's how my scarf looked!

I loved it! |

I did the same thing with Brittany's gift, except because of the sheer and light material, I had to double up on the animal print. To add a creative touch, I put a button on it.

She loved it! |

I plan to make another one of these scarves in the near future except I may make it a little longer (about 18"x60") and make it a multi-loop scarf! :)
Another project that I spent time doing was a mirror that I saw from Pinterest! I have been at school for months in the apartment and have yet to buy a mirror for my room! That could prove tragic for looking at my whole outfit before class. I decided to get one last week and decorate it. I bought rose petals from Wal-Mart, the mirror from Target, a ribbon that I had lying around, and letters from the NYT newspaper. Let's get crafty!

My boyfriend/special helper! |

Hot glue, anyone? |

Making letters! |
It was somewhat time consuming, but I was able to hot glue 2 layers of petals on the mirror, make a bow with my ribbon, and add "LOVE" in newspaper to the mirror. I love it!
I used mounting tape to put my mirror on my wall! These mirrors, although inexpensive are awesome for creative endeavors. My friend, Leena, and I also call these mirrors "Confidence Mirrors" because they definitely help boost your confidence and magically give you a long and slender figure! LOVE!
Today, Sunday, Lamont and I met up in Greenville with my brother and his wife! It was a fun and fantastic day and an awesome way to spend a beautiful Sunday. Here are some pics, hope you like them!
It was a great day! We ate at a really delicious restaurant downtown and went to my sister-in-law's orchestra concert. We had gelato for dessert. And now Lamont and I are sitting here, awaiting MLK day and all that goes with that (I'm doing volunteer work!) Hope you had a great weekend, talk to you soon!
